Job Description

  • Manage a staff of 5-7 union team members
  • Supervise all aspects of production and distribution of breads, pastries and specialty desserts for 5 student dining locations and 3 retail locations
  • Create seasonal menus and themed event menus as needed
  • Provide a "hands-on" management approach that includes, mixing, baking, decorating and training
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy food preparation environment by following and enforcing bread, pastry, and dessert preparation standards and procedures
  • Comply with sanitation and legal regulations
  • Maintain current high standards in regards to both product and creativity
  • Maintain high quality results by analyzing production methods, records, and menu expenses
  • Standardize production recipes
  • Promote pastry staff interest in quality improvement and implement changes as necessary
  • Respond to customers’ special requests
  • Anticipate trends in bread, pastry, and dessert preferences


Job Requirements

  • Candidate must have a passion for food and be self-motivated
  • Creativity in this position is a must
  • Must have a high school diploma and have 3 years of baking experience
  • A results-oriented, articulate, decisive, self-starter who energizes people around him/her and works well with little supervision
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Schedule varies based on needs, typically Monday-Friday, but must be available evenings and weekends as needed for special events
